Paralegal (In-Office)

  • We are a Civil Litigation Defense Law Firm seeking a highly motivated full-time, in-office Paralegal for our company located in Vancouver, Washington.  The preferred candidate will have prior law firm experience to be able to proficiently and effectively assist in all aspects of the litigation process.  

    The ideal candidate will be consistent, reliable, demonstrate the ability to prioritize, maintain file organization, balance a high-volume workload, have excellent writing and communication skills, and enjoy the demands of a busy practice while working under the direction and supervision of supervision of licensed attorneys and staff.

    The successful applicant will be flexible and have forethought with planning to successfully achieve goals.  They will have a positive attitude with the ability to remain calm, focused, and professional while working with diverse personalities in a deadline-driven, high-expectation environment.  

    Position Hours

    • 8:00 A.M. -5:00 P.M. Monday-Friday (In-Office) 
    • *With occasional overtime hours because of workload and nature of the work 
  • Education/Experience

    Required:

    • A minimum of three to five years’ experience in civil litigation matter
     Ideal (Not Required):
    • Personal Injury Paralegal Experience
    • Experience in insurance defense, personal injury, appellate, declaratory actions, mobile phone records petitions/subpoenas, and multi-jurisdictional litigation
    • Proficient with e-filing in both State and Federal Courts with an understanding of the various e-filing processes and requirements
    • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Skills

    Technological:

    Current knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel), Adobe Pro (Bates numbering, headers/footers, redaction, pdf compilation/extraction, etc.), Internet search engines, and other web-based applications with ability/desire to learn new software applications.

                Written:

    Excellent skills in editing, proofreading, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and composition.

                Professional:

    Possess a professional demeanor and work ethic even when under pressure.  Requires ability to be productive with limited supervision.  Must exercise a high degree of personal integrity, commitment, confidentiality, tact, discretion, and judgment.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Our Paralegal will take ownership of their administrative support duties and primary responsibilities, which include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Daily handling of case files from inception through closure.
    • Taking ownership of assigned files to include file management/organization, deadline monitoring, scheduling, medical record retrieval and summary, drafting pleadings/motions, party investigation, deposition and trial binders, IME/expert interaction, and assisting with all aspects of trial/arbitration/mediation preparation and attendance.
    • Case event coordination, some calendaring, copying/scanning, word processing revisions, time/data entry, and internal filing.
    • Taking direction regarding the organization and management of data and evidence
    • Running miscellaneous errands
    • Chronological organization of records/data comparison for removal of duplicates
    • Digital organizing
    • Internal filing on a daily/weekly basis
    • Preparing packages/mail for delivery
    • Generating correspondence (including drafting dictated letters), word processing revisions
    • Copying, scanning, faxing documents
    • Generating, updating, and modifying calendar entries as well as monitoring and accommodating to changes
    • Preparing files with indexes and labels for buckets, folders, and binders
    • Scheduling and communicating with couriers, court reporters, videographers
    • Transcribing audio files
    • Tracking and requesting records (including medical, DMV, police, courts, etc.)
    • Pleading formatting/template drafting
    • Forwarding invoices
    • Maintaining communication with paralegals and attorneys regarding progress of projects undertaken
    • The flexibility to work occasional overtime hours because of workload and nature of the work
    • Potential summary generation
    • Performing other duties as required
